5 cars, 6 trucks and a trailer were crushed after a 5-ton steel lifting platform broke in Pennsylvania, officials said.
The Associated Press reported that the accident occurred around 7:40 a.m.
Saturday on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near the town of Lakeland, Pennsylvania.
Authorities said two vehicles and a pickup truck collided head-on.
The pickup driver was transported to the hospital with minor injuries.
A spokeswoman for the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation said the truck had been traveling at about 40 mph in the east-bound lanes when it came across the platform and came to rest in the center median.
She said the pickup driver is a construction worker and has been taken to a hospital for observation.
